Hart explains that AstroLift™ was developed for those with fine, fragile, aging, and breakage-prone hair types seeking damage repair in their styling products. “Understanding that these hair types are more prone to damage and breakage because of the biology of the hair, this product is helping repair that damage, but also giving the volume and lift that they seek,” she says. 

Something that was top of mind while formulating was the end feel of the hair, she continues. “We wanted to develop a formula that gives touchable, buildable volume but doesn’t ever get sticky and crunchy like other volumizing products that exist on the market today.”

The result? “Very flexible, movable, light, and airy volume.”

The K18PEPTIDE™ in AstroLift™ targets a major root cause of volume loss—bounce-depleting damage. “Just like in our molecular repair products, K18PEPTIDE™ in this formula is going to reconnect polypeptide chains to repair damage from bleach, color + chemical services and heat*,” Hart explains.

A hair fiber volumizing blend adds weightless lift to individual hair strands for a fuller look and feel from roots to ends, without heavy, crunchy, or sticky residue. “The volumizing blend puts a very lightweight barrier on the hair that’s proven to increase each hair strand diameter thickness by up to 25%*,” Hart says.

Finally, a humidity-resistant polymer ensures hair won’t fall flat for up to 2 days* even when the heat index is high. “We combine the hair fiber volumizing blend with a humidity-resistant polymer that’s gonna preserve that light and airy volume,” Hart says. “We tested it and even after humidity, in all cases, there was little to no volume loss.”  Combined in an optimal ratio with lightweight emollients, the polymer becomes more flexible when dry for truly touchable body and bounce. 

The team also ensured the product delivered with and without heat styling. “We tested AstroLift™ on dry hair, we tested it on damp hair with air dry, whether it’s a diffuser on curly hair or blow dry for a smooth blowout it’s gonna work in every case,” says Hart.
